Recent Letter from GCCF website
Many readers and perhaps GCCF delegates will be astounded by the letter which appears on the GCCF web site, written by GCCF Chairman Gordon Butler, reiterating the GCCF's desire and determination to end the contract with OUR CATS on January 31st 2008.
It is clear that Mr Butler, having survived a vote of no confidence at the delegates meeting, has now taken advice from the GCCF solicitors, Marshalls, before writing to Vince Hogan, the Managing Director of Our Cats and Our Dogs. Many will wonder whether the GCCF's solicitors have taken into consideration the depth of feeling shown by the vast majority of delegates at that recent delegates meeting.
In a move that is sure to spark even greater controversy than the meeting on October 24th, Mr Butler and the Executive Committee (one assumes that all the members of the committee are aware of this ongoing stance and decision) has taken the vote on item 4a as having upheld the original decision of the committee, communicated to OUR CATS last July. As this vote did not achieve the required two thirds majority (although 92 delegates voted for it and only 54 against) Mr Butler has signalled what is likely to be the burning of the last bridge between OUR CATS and the GCCF by terminating the contract yet again.
The question will be asked whether the insistence of the cancellation of the contract as from January 31st 2008 is in direct contravention of the further vote which was carried by a huge majority, 108 to 35, which clearly tells the Executive that ’there will be no further consideration of removing the ‘Official Organ’ status from Our Cats …unless there has been full and formal discussion in Council’.
It would appear that Mr Butler is either ignoring the instructions of the delegates or he has a different interpretation of that vote.
As we said in last weeks issue, we feel sure that there will be repercussions.
OUR CATS has no further comment at this time.
