Cats at Crufts!

Some may say that our Lesley Muffittt, well known face from the North West cat show, has gone to the dogs…no disrespects Lesley, but when you turn up at the NEC, slap bang in the middle of Crufts and I’m there with a camera, you can expect trouble!

Actually it was nice to see a number of friendly cat faces at the canine cup final and as our photo shows, we had plenty of copies of Our Cats there to fly the flag for the felines.

Papal Cat Fancy?
Nothing to do with Lesley or the North West Cat Club, but I did see a very interesting story recently about the incumbent Pope, Benedict, who apparently before his election to high office was feeding many stray cats in the Vatican City area of Rome. Now for someone with a nickname of the Rottweiller I thought this definitely showed a very kind side of his nature.

Once elected he was apparently not allowed to bring in any cats in case of damage to any of the valuable artefacts and works of art within his offices. However, it now appears that with the aid of one of his assistants, he has ‘adopted’ a stray kitten and is feeding the lucky chap on a regular basis.

That’s one blessed cat!

Kernow... that’s Cornwall!
Congratulations to the Kernow on holding its 21st Anniversary Show on Saturday 1 April following its inaugural meeting in Truro in 1977. The Club unfortunately can’t hold the show in Cornwall due to a lack of a venue, but nonetheless had a Cornish flag, a cake and even people in Cornish outfits.

The club secretary Jennie Musgrove told Our Cats that everyone seemed happy on the day with a good turnout of over 400 cats. Out of the section winners, the Siamese took overall BIS and we hope to feature photographs from Robert Fox in a forthcoming issue.

Competition points
Our two competitions are at the top of index page… many thanks to Liz Prescott for getting to grips with the points and bringing us up to date.

I think our next show with a stand will be the Manchester Show at the George Carnall Leisure Centre in early May….more on this in the next issue.

In a Southern Counties Cat Club show report by Mrs Marlene Buckeridge in OUR CATS, 24 March (Issue No. 1086, page 28) in the AV FOREIGN NEUTER CLASS, it was stated that Mrs Chapple’s Male Neuter, MYMYSTIC PAGANSUN (74) was a Red Tonkinese. This was incorrect. He is, in fact, a BROWN Tonkinese. OUR CATS apologises for this error.

In Mrs Sharara Crichton’s report on the Maidstone & Medway Cat Club Show (OUR CATS, 24 March, Issue No. 1086, page 36) it was stated that the winner of the Black or Chocolate Smoke Kitten Female Class and BOB was Hobson’s PANNONIUS OSMOSIS. As Osmosis is a male and was not at the show, this was incorrect. The winner was in fact Hobson’s PANNONIUS ODETTE. OUR CATS apologises for this error.

Mrs Sharara Crichton wishes to inform OUR CATS readers of an error made in her North of Britain LH & SLH Club Club Show Report in the Open Chinchilla Kitten Class. The Male Kitten who was placed second was Paul’s BUSTOPUS BEAU HAMISH, and not Rewcastle’s Rocawen Hanz Off. Sharara wishes to offer her sincere apologies to the exhibitors involved.
