I hope the recent spell of hot weather is not affecting you or your cats too badly.
Sensible cats and their owners will stay in the shade during the hottest part of the day, although it always makes me wonder when you see cats on the continent in the hot sun - they seem to bake against a south-facing wall!
Anyone with any fun pictures of cats in the sun should email them through to Rob in the very warm Our Cats office!
We are informed by Julia May that schedules are now available for the Supreme Show on 25th November 2006 at Halls 3a & 4 of the NEC, Birmingham.
Readers should please note that the schedule and entry forms are available on the Supreme Show website (www.supremecatshow.org) as pdf files. They will also be available at shows. To send for a copy please send a stamped (for 100g) self-addressed C5 (A5 schedule-size) envelope, with “Supreme Schedule” written on it, to the GCCF Office, 5 King’s Castle Business Park, The Drove, Bridgwater, Somerset, TA6 4AG.
Our Cats hope to have some schedules available from our stand at selected shows and we intend to help promote the show as much as possible, as I have written in the last few issues. Our Cats have received a number of comments
about the Supreme and we feature a letter from Jennifer Sedgwick in this week’s issue.
I feel sure that if a nice attractive poster was produced we could help circulate them to people willing to put them up in the local vets’ surgeries, pet shops, catteries and boarding kennels or wherever.
Cat people are definitely the type to pull together and help when asked.
Keith Thornton celebrates 20 years of dedication and loyalty to Wafcol
Keith Thornton of Wafcol is a real company man! He is seen here with Harpinder Buhal of Wafcol receiving his 20 years’ services award at a recent event in Manchester.
Harpinder Buhal, Wafcol General Sales Manager, said: “Keith is a real asset to any team. He is truly passionate about animals and all that he is involved in, whether that be judging or as part of the expanding WAFCOL sales team
“Wafcol has seen many changes over the past 24 months and Keith has played an important role within the sector.”
Outside of work, Keith’s passion has taken him all over the world where he is a well-known face in international Greyhound circles and is commended by breeders and trainers alike.
His commitment and dedication to the rehoming of greyhounds is ever apparent when, every September in Romford, he helps to judge a dog show purely for re-homed greyhounds. Rescue Centres regularly benefit from Keith’s generosity as he often donates food to the centres to ensure that they have adequate supplies.
Harpinder and her colleague Emma were seen recently at the Gwynedd cat show, where Wafcol were the main sponsors.

Chester & North Wales
The Our Cats stand will be out at this popular show, held near the centre of Chester.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the show, which usually boasts good weather and lots of stands for you to enjoy.
The show is celebrating its silver jubilee this year, so even if you do not have a cat entered, why not come along and join in the festivities.
We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday August 12th at the Northgate Arena and wish all the committee a great day.
The Our Cats stand will be out and about in August and September and it’s likely you’ll get to meet Charlotte, my PA, at the Teesside show, which she is going to attend with her colleague Brian McKeever...go and say hello! Check out the Our Cats website for regular updates on our shows, plus (for members) see exclusive pictures from the events.
