The South Western Counties Cat Club is one of the oldest in the cat fancy and this year celebrates its 75th Anniversary. The annual championship show on 23rd September 2006 makes a welcome return to the English Riviera Centre Torquay this year, after a temporary relocation to Paignton in 2005.
The English Riviera Centre is an excellent venue. The trade stands are all on a balcony above the show hall with lots of space to peruse the usual array of feline-related items, giving an ideal opportunity for some early Christmas shopping.
The Centre is adjacent to a lovely park and just yards from the beach. If this scorching weather keeps up, exhibitors may well be tempted into a quick paddle in the sea (mind you, by the time you read this it may well have been raining for a week, such are the vagaries of the English weather!). Although the show is not until September we have always been very fortunate weather-wise, with the show invariably being held on a lovely (very) late summer day.
We are looking forward to the visit of Our Cats again this year. The show team have only been to us once before when we held our 50th anniversary show. Don’t forget to visit their stand.
This will be our last show as joint show managers as we are both ‘retiring’ from management. We have been involved in running the show for 8 years and will be handing over to Eileen Fryer for 2007. We wish her the very best of luck; please give her all your support.
Entries close on Friday 11th August. If you intend to show and have not yet posted your entry, please do so today as the hall is nearly full; don’t miss out. We look forward to seeing you all on 23rd September and hope you have a happy and successful day.
