Does your cat love the limelight? Does he or she put on a show when being photographed? If so, grab your camera and start clicking for Cats Protection right now!
The charity is launching its annual photographic competition on 1 August so now is the chance for amateur photographers to capture their feline friend on film.
An impressive prize package is on offer for the overall winner, including a £250 voucher for photographic equipment. Prizes will also be awarded to the competition’s four category winners as well as 10 runners-up.
The competition’s categories are:
Perfect Portrait – Capture the purr-sonality of your cat in a special camera shot
Cuddly kittens – Smitten with your kitten? Take the cutest picture that you can!
Cats will be cats – Stretching, playing, jumping, pouncing. Catch those cat capers on camera!
Best friends – Cats and fellow felines; cats and other animals; cats and people. Capture the shot that conveys that special relationship!
Digital prints are acceptable, as long as they are unaltered from their original state, and have been taken with a camera of three megapixels or more. They must be printed on good quality photographic paper and accompanied by the original image on disk (JPEG or TIFF format only).
Photos must be accompanied by a 2006 Cats Protection photographic entry form, available from the charity’s helpline (Tel: 08702 099 099). Alternatively, entry forms can be downloaded from Cats Protection’s website www.cats.org.uk
There is a suggested donation of £2 per photo entered, and entrants can enter as many photos and as many categories as they wish. The competition is open to residents, of all ages, in the UK and Eire, and the closing date for receipt of entries is 1 October 2006. Good luck and happy snapping!
