Suffolk & Norfolk
Another busy weekend of showing saw a good crowd down at the Wood Green Animal Shelter in Godmanchester, near to Cambridge. By the way, that’s nearly 200 miles from Manchester for all of you who think I don’t travel south of Stoke on Trent!
Thanks to Linda, Grace and the team for a warm welcome, and I enjoyed dinner on the Friday talking to Sheila Hamilton and Bruce and Gillian Bennett from the Nor’East of Scotland Club.
Linda told me that the entry would have been a little better, but so many entries came in after the closing date… why do people in the cat game leave entries so much to the last minute?
Of course the Bedford show had taken place recently at the same venue, so there could have been a knock-on effect.
Too many shows came the cry… again, an often heard comment from show management around the country.
Sorry to see no raffle at the show… not as sorry as the exhibitor who won £100 cash last year! Apparently there was no-one to run it... shortage of Committee Members?
A common complaint I hear at shows nowadays.
Did anyone notice the nice green carpet on the floor at the venue? Yes, it’s direct from this years Crufts! I often wondered where all those used acres of green sward went after the show.
Show Secretaries watch out
The admin. team at Our Cats are excelling themselves and we are currently sending out the judges envelopes and information to show secretaries for shows in October and November. Fairly soon with the exception of the Supreme and the National, we will complete the whole of 2006.
Please note in your envelopes, there are special offers to Clubs for pages in the Our Cats Annual 2007. We feel that not enough clubs take advantage of the special deals that could get your club and its members a lovely page in the Annual which is seen all year round.
We of course need your support and it would make for a bigger and better Annual. Check out the details in your secretary packs posted from the office, or book a page with me at the shows!
Next up for me is Merseyside and the delights of the Epic Centre, near Birkenhead. That must be a local show for Judge Margaret Walkden from the Wirral, who last weekend judged at the Suffolk and Norfolk and went home, then came back to the Midland Show on the Sunday. Dedicated or what?
Same goes for the boys and girls from MF Penning who did both shows in a double whammy for the weekend… that must clock up the overtime for the team Andy!
At Merseyside they celebrated their Ruby Show in 2004 and they are already flagging up their Golden Anniversary in 2014… even I hope to be retired by then!
Anyway, for now I’ll look forward to seeing you all there on Saturday.
Many thanks to those Secretaries who brought schedules to the stand at Suffolk and Norfolk… we like to have these to help entries for YOUR show.

Mr & Mrs Nall are pictured with ‘Teddy’ after winning BIS at the Manchester & District Cat Show. ‘Teddy’ is a bit of a devil at home; Mr & Mrs Nall have had to fit special bolts on all the cupboard doors to stop him from opening them!
Chester passes away
Supreme UK & Imperial Grand Premier Dairymaine Chestaton, winner of the Supreme only last November 2005, has sadly passed away very suddenly at home. He was just under three years of age. Our thoughts are with his owner Jane Hayes.
