Thankyou from the Show Manager
Maybe it’s my age now but the year between shows seems to get shorter, I know Christmas comes around faster each year and the Shropshire follows so close behind that I’m sure that has a barring on the situation.
We were grateful that the snow stayed away this year so the judges were all able to travel and Bella Penning always do an excellent job which makes for an easier day on Friday setting up. Numbers were down a little this year but still a good entry and a very busy show if only Christmas could be moved so that potential exhibitors were not so distracted.
Saturday morning arrived clear and bright if cold, all the Vets came and the queue was kept to a minimum but there were accidents both north and south on the motorway so we delayed the start of judging to allow exhibitors to get in, there were a few late arrivals but thankfully non of our exhibitors were involved in the accidents.
I am ever grateful to the small army of people who arrive each year to help in various ways, on the tables, stewarding, taking out results and rosettes without you we would be lost. However a few special thank yous I feel are in order Di North Joint Show Manager we have been running this show together for more years now than either of us cares to count but we know each other so well now that it seems to work.
Mick Coomer, Hall Manager who almost seems to do it with his eyes shut now and makes an excellent job each year and always so ably assisted by wife Jill, and a very special thank you to Carol, Mick and Mandy Bell who take good care of BIS drapes from year to year, do any running repairs needed, turn up on Friday to set them up.
Then spend all day Saturday manning the door, handing out Miscellaneous rosettes and prize money then duly pack up BIS pens at the end of the day plus loads of other jobs they just always seem to be there when needed, and also our section managers Maureen Eaden-Mills and Sue Bowen and Duty Vet Sue Moreland.
Then I really must say thank you to our judges who always have a busy day with us right through to BIS at the end, and to our exhibitors for without you there would be no show, we hope you had a lovely day with us, congratulations to all those who were BIS winners I hope you will all come again next year and tell your friends, Oh and just try to spare a thought for Shropshire in among the Christmas rush and get your entries in early please!
Last but by no means least I thank Richardson’s for their super rosettes and outstanding service.
