Lesley Tricker, Hon Secretary

The United Chinchilla Association

I would like to thank all those exhibitors who responded to my letter in OUR CATS and brought along items for the raffle at our show on 11 February. Really the response was quite overwhelming, which produced a bumper raffle, resulting in the handsome total of £84.60 towards Club funds. You were all most generous, and the Committee thanks you for your support.

May I remind those who have not renewed yet that subscriptions for 2006 are now due and have been increased to £8 joint and £5 single, with £1 joining fee remaining the same.

Eileen Peachey, Membership Secretary

West of Scotland Cat Club

The 25th AGM of the West of Scotland Cat Club is to be held at the BBC Club, 1 Botanic Crescent, Glasgow on Sunday, 9 April at 12 noon.

An invitation is extended to all Members who have paid their subscriptions for the year 2006: papers will be sent out to Members two weeks before the meeting.

At present there are two vacant places on the Committee and the position of Secretary is also vacant. Nomination slips for these positions will be sent out with the AGM papers. Should you wish to nominate anyone who is willing to stand, please return the completed slips to me at 101 North Road, Bellshill, Lanarkshire ML4 1QZ by first post, Wednesday, 5 April 2006.

We have had lots of positive feedback on our show in December and the Committee of the West of Scotland Cat Club would like to thank everyone who contributed to the show’s success. We would like to thank the exhibitors for our increased entry, but most of all we would like to thank all the people who are the backbone of any successful show - the people who did the table, the results, the rosettes, sold the raffle tickets, manned the doors and the club stall, helped with vetting-in and stewarding. We couldn’t have done it without you - you were great!

The Club now has a website at westofscotlandcat club.co.uk - please pay us a call.

If you are interested in a listing on this site, please contact our webmaster, Ian Thomson, Tel. 01355 903109.

Janet Starr, Show Manager

Lakeland & District Cat Club

At the AGM of the Lakeland & District CC on 29 January 2006, the subject of the number of trophies the Club has accumulated over the years, and the problems of the distribution and care of said trophies created was raised.

After a long discussion, it was decided at the AGM that all trophies the Club held should either be returned to the donors or distributed amongst other Clubs that may like to have them.
Tracing some of the trophy donors may prove difficult, so if anyone who donated a trophy or trophies to the Club could contact Mrs S. Mackereth (Secretary) Tel. 01229 462754 or email shemac@ btinternet.com to discuss the return of same.

There are a good number of the trophies being held by the winners from last years show, so obviously we shall have to wait until they are returned to the Club before, or at this years show.
A rwsolution was passed at the AGM for the Club to provide ONE trophy for the Overall Best in Show winner and ONE trophy each for the Best in Section winners.

S. Mackereth (Mrs), Secretary

Linda Ward, Hon Secretary

The Surrey & Sussex Cat Association

Important Notice! Cups and Trophies. After much discussion and deliberation, the Committee of the Surrey & Sussex Cat Association has decided to stop awarding cups and trophies at its annual show. This is for a number of reasons - problems with insurance, storage, replacement of damaged or missing cups and the general lack of interest shown by Club Members who, in many cases, are not willing to take the cups they have won.

Therefore, at our show on 18 March, we will be awarding cups on a one-off basis, i.e. those who have won the cups will be able to keep them permanently. We are retaining the oldest and most valuable cups for Best in Show, but all the remaining trophies, as far as possible will be given out on the day to winning exhibitors.

If anyone has donated a cup to the Club and would like to have it back (or knows anyone who has who may see this notice) could they please contact Kym jarvis on kymian.burmese@virgin.net or Jane Spall on jane@js-web.co.uk with details, or phone me on 01737 769040, or write to me at 6 Nutfield Road, Redhill, Surrey RH1 4AU by 17 March, or see us on show day.

This year Mr David Heath, Mrs Mary Prior, Mrs Vivienne Colliver and miss Vivienne Wiltshire have all stood down.

An election for BAC members will take place, if you have experience breeding and exhibiting, you are welcome to apply. Also, our Council Delegate will be elected. If you are interested in either of these, please send your applications to me.

Nominations must be proposed and seconded in writing by two fully paid-up Members. This should be accompanied by your written consent and sent to Miss Marianne Upham (Acting Secretary), Kwai Lo, Winterhay Green, Ilminster, Somerset TA19 9PL.

We will have a club table selling a selection of items for our Welfare Funds, also a raffle. Award winners will be presented with their trophies at the AGM.

I would like to remind Members that subscriptions for 2006 became due in January (£5 Single, £7 Joint. Overseas: £7 Single, £9 Joint). We hope to see as many people as possible on the day, and I would, on behalf of the Committee, like to express our thanks for everyone‘s support.

Marianne Upham, Acting Secretary

Scottish Cat Club

The AGM of the Scottish Cat Club will be held on Sunday, 9 April 2006 at 2.30pm at the BBC Club, 1 Botanic Gardens, Glasgow. All fully paid-up Members of the Club are invited to attend. We have arranged with the West of Scotland Cat Club that our AGM will follow on straight after their, which we hope will make it easier for Members of both Clubs to attend. Sandwiches and refreshments will be available between the two meetings, along with the opportunity to catch up with ‘catty’ friends.

We currently have one vacancy on the Committee. Two Committee Members are also standing down by rotation, Elisabeth Stark and Lenny Pontello, but both are willing to continue to serve. Applications to stand for Committee are therefore invited from Club Members. Applications should be proposed and seconded by fully paid-up Members of the Club and sent to me at 7 Roman Avenue, Bearsden, Glasgow G61 2QW by 26 March. If you would like to know a bit more about what is involved in Committee membership, please contact me at this address or by e-mail at scottishcatclub@hotmail.com. Nomination forms will be included with the AGM papers. Any further items for the AGM agenda should also be sent to me by 26 March.

Having just held another successful show, we are already planning for next year’s extravaganza - our Golden Jubilee Show! One of the items on the agenda for the AGM is arrangements for our show in 2007, and we very much hope that some good ideas come out of our discussion. Even if you cannot make it to the AGM, we would love to hear from you if you have any ideas on how to make this an extra special event.

We will also be having our regular raffle in aid of Club funds, so any donations of prizes would be much appreciated.

Elisabeth Stark, Hon Secretary
