BECAUSE of plans for major redevelopment in the town centre at Burton-upon-Trent, the future of our venue for the last three years, the Meadowside Leisure Centre, gave the Association cause for concern.
So we began to search for a new show hall and found the Stratford Leisure & Visitor Centre, Bridgefoot, Stratford-Upon-Avon. We had a meeting with the management and negotiated a good deal for both 2006 and 2007. So we took the decision to move, as from April 2006.
The Stratford-Upon-Avon venue is conveniently situated just six miles from Junction 15 of the M40, close to links to the M42, M5 and M6. The hall is spacious and will accommodate the show pens and trade stalls in the same room. There is lots of space for parking, although it is Pay & Display. Food is available, but the policy of the Leisure Centre is “Healthy Eating”. Therefore the exhibitors’ favourite - the Great British Breakfast - will not be available on the premises. However, Stratford-Upon-Avon town centre is within easy walking distance and the shopping options are endless!
Stratford, of course is a tourist Mecca, so there is plenty to see. We will be providing you with details of cafes, restaurants, places of interest to visit, etc., on a leaflet which you will find in your pen on show day.
The well known photographer, Alan Robinson, will be at the show this year for the first time.
The 2006 show will be on Easter Saturday. There will be chocolate eggs, a tombola and lots of chocolate prizes to be won. Please start getting creative because there will also be an Easter Bonnet Competition.
Schedules have been sent out to all Members and also to non-members who attended the 2005 show. The schedule and entry form is also available on our website - www.semilonghaircats.co.uk/champshow
The Semi Long Hair Cat Association Committee looks forward to seeing you on the 15th April 2006 at Stratford-Upon-Avon in Shakespeare’s County
