When will I see you again...
Name that tune! Well, we will see you very soon at the George Carnall Leisure Centre for the Manchester Show, as mentioned in my last column.

Ideally placed by the motorway, big car park, near the Trafford Centre (if you must!) and lots of friendly Northern folk. Let’s have a great day on 6 May. Don’t forget to renew your subs, take out an Annual advert or advertise your win at the show. Also remember we still have some of the handy cat show planner diaries available at only £2.95 each.

Then I’ll be hitting the Motorway once more for the Suffolk and Norfolk show to be held on 20 May at Wood Green Animal Shelter in Godmanchester. Show Manager Linda Walpole and her team will be gearing up already…. and Our Cats will be there to do a big photo feature of the day.

A little reminder for the committee and for all of us setting up on Friday…can someone stay a little later in the afternoon to give us all a chance to set up? The staff have been a bit quick on the TGIF syndrome!

Anyway, it’s usually a nice day down there and lots of cat people like to stroll in the grounds and see the other animals. See you there!

Successful day
Some news from around the shows of winners and successful shows, plus advance news for 2007.

Gr Ch Mylynn Montoya, owned by Norma Palmer, was overall winner at the Northern Siamese Cat Society Show in Sheffield on April 8. He took Best Male Siamese Adult and Overall Best Exhibit.

The Northern Birman Cat Club will next year host its 1st Championship Show after recently completing its 6-year qualifying period in Carnforth. Overall Best in Show was Pr Klawnique Fair Warning, owned and bred by Mrs Linda Kaplan and Mr Chris Troughton. For further details of the 2007 show contact Show Manager Charlie Keenan on 028 92638159 or email ckeenan@fsmail.net

The 7th Championship Show of the Black and White Cat Club was held on 15th April. Joint Show Managers Julian and Carol Hague told Our Cats that it was a successful day for the club. Ch Lafrebella Donatello, owned by Mr M. Rubery and bred by Mrs I. Bangs, took Best in Show Persian Adult and Overall Best in Show Persian. UK Gr Pr Taurine Blackmagic, owned by Mrs A. Duffy and bred by Mrs Denny, took Best in Show British Shorthair Neuter and Overall Best in Show British Shorthair.

Also on 15th April the Semi Longhair Cat Association held its fourth Championship Show. Best Somali Exhibit and Overall Best Exhibit was Gr Ch & UK Imp Gr Pr Emanan Alderman Ptolomy, owned by Mrs E. L. Watts.

New cat foods
Visitors to Manchester should watch out for a new product launch from those enterprising chaps from Bollington, Roger and Roger (first names!) who attend many of the shows with their cat litter products and other delights. This time they have a sensational new food - they say - and who is to doubt them!

Try it on the day, as I’m sure there could be a few freebies around.
Lynda Ward, an Our Cats regular contributor, also tells us of a new product from CSJ foods in Wales…more details to follow.

Keep Lynda fed herself please, folks, with any chatty tales and cat stories.

Chris at the conference
Plucky Chris Stalker recently took on central Birmingham in an effort to cover the huge BSAVA conference. Her report will be featured here in Our Cats and of course, as a veterinary nurse herself, she will pick out relevant elements from this important annual conference and report back to fellow cat breeders and owners…she will even be at the Manchester show!

OUR CATS would like to apologise to GCCF Judge, Mrs Bond-Wonneberger and exhibitors whose cats were judged by Mrs Bond-Wonneberger at the Yorkshire County CC Show in October 2005 and the Shorthaired Cat Society Show in January 2006 for the delay in publishing Mrs Bond-Wonneberger’s reports on these two shows.

These reports were sent to OUR CATS by the judges deadlines for sending show reports to OUR CATS for these two shows. Mrs Bond-Wonneberger’s two reports are printed in this issue.

OUR CATS would like to apologise to Mrs & Mrs Town of Teapot Burmese for the misprint in OUR CATS concerning CH TEAPOT TANYA. Tanya was indeed awarded the CC and BOB at the West of Scotland Cat Club Show in December 2005. OUR CATS apologises for this error.

In Miss Eleanor Wexler’s Household Pet report at the Coventry & Leicester Cat Club Show, it was stated that Miss Wexler described Mrs Symonds cat CHARLIE as “extravagant” (see Toby’s critique). This was a typographical error by OUR CATS. This should have said “extravert”.
Miss Wexler says: “Now Sue, don’t let Toby talk you into a spending spree just to beat the competition”.
