Celebrities are feline good for charity

To celebrate the nation’s love of cats, Whiskas®, the UK’s leading cat food brand is launching the Whiskas Book of Purrems, featuring a collection of poems and photography by cat-loving celebrities, guest journalists and UK cat owners to raise money for veterinary charity, PDSA.

PDSA PetAid hospitals provide more than 1.3 million free treatments each year, equivalent to 4,650 sick and injured pets being treated by PDSA vets and nurses every working day.

Celebrities including, singer, Liz McClarnon, TV presenter, Fearne Cotton, artist Tracey Emin and TV presenters, Colin and Justin have come together with UK cat owners to put pens to paper to express their love for their feline friends through Purrems – poems that describe the infectious happiness of owning a cat!

The Whiskas Book of Purrems also features eleven guest entries by cat owners from all across the UK who won a place in the book by wowing the Whiskas judges with their ‘purr-fect’ Purrems about their feline friends.

The delightful book by Whiskas gives cat lovers an insight into the individual relationships enjoyed by cat owners through poetry and photography, whilst helping sick and injured cats in need by raising money for PDSA.

Justine Hare, spokesperson for Whiskas, comments, “At Whiskas, we know the enjoyment cat owners get from their pets and the Whiskas Book of Purrems is a great way to capture that infectious happiness and to share it with the world.

We are thrilled by the wonderfully poetic contributions by the different famous faces, journalists and members of the public, which can be enjoyed by cat lovers of all ages.

With a contribution from the sale of each book going to PDSA, we hope that the Whiskas Book of Purrems will help raise valuable funds for pets in need of vets.”

TV presenter, Fearne Cotton, comments, “I am really happy to be supporting this campaign, it’s something that is so close to my heart - a poem about my little moggie Keloy. I look forward to helping to raise as much money as possible for the PDSA to help sick and injured pets.”

The Whiskas Book of Purrems is available to buy now in leading book shops, PDSA shops nationwide, priced £4.99, with a contribution going to the PDSA. For more information on the Whiskas Book of Purrems, visit www.whiskas.co.uk
