PFMA publishes guide to pet food ingredients
THE UK Pet Food Manufacturers Association, (PFMA) whose member companies produce foods for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small animals, has published an online guide for pet owners entitled What’s in Pet Food.
New documents on the PFMA website tell pet owners about the ingredients typically used in manufactured pet food and why they are used. The new guide also offers advice on feeding cats and dogs, including how to maintain an ideal body condition.
For schools, colleges, vet shops and pet shops the site offers a downloadable poster with top feeding tips.
These guides are available in pdf format and include:
• What’s in pet food
• Feeding cats and dogs
• Nutritional poster
Additionally, the site has an Ideal body condition sheet. Here owners can compare their own cats and dogs against a table of ideal pet sizes and weights.
The PFMA is the principle trade body representing the UK pet food industry. Its 50 members account for over 90% of the pet food market.
