Club News

Edinburgh & East of Scotland Cat Club
Due to renovation work being undertaken in the Brunton Hall next July, we have been informed that East Lothian Council have had to cancel our booking of the Hall for our Championship Show. The venue for the Show has now been changed to the Rothes Halls in Glenrothes, although the date remains unchanged (21 July 2007).

This venue has excellent facilities, an extensive car park adjacent to the hall, easy ground floor access, comfortable on-site catering and an extensive shopping mall with direct access from the hall. We hope that our exhibitors will find this a very suitable and acceptable venue for our 50th Championship Show.
Isabel U. Walker, Show Manager

Please note that, due to circumstances beyond our control, it is necessary to postpone our AGM - which is normally held on the last Sunday of February each year to some future date. We will announce a new date as soon as possible.

May we take this opportunity to wish all our Members a very happy and successful 2007.
Marjorie Stafford, Chairman

United Chinchilla Association

May I remind Members that 2007 Subscriptions are now due and remain at £5 single and £8 joint with a £1 joining fee for new members.

Our show will be held on 10 February at The Village Hall, Woolmer Green, Herts, and we look forward to seeing you and your cats on that day. If you have any household pets, why not bring them along too! We will be holding the usual raffle, and would welcome any items from the membership to make it a big success.

The Officers and Committee take this opportunity to wish you all a healthy and successful new year.
Eileen Peachey, Membership Secretary

The Scottish Cat Club

Due to some delay at the printers, schedules for our Golden Jubilee Show on 10 February 2007 were sent out a few days later than we had planned. We will therefore be accepting entries up to Monday, 15 January, rather than the 8th.

If you haven’t sent for your schedule yet, they are available from either Pamela Read at 80 Garthland Drive, Glasgow G31 2RB, or Margaret Webster at 115 Eskhill, Penicuik EH26 8DE. Schedules are also available to download from our website - www.scottishcatclub.co.uk
As this is our 50th consecutive Championship Show, there will be special £50 prizes for the Best Pedigree, Best Non Pedigree and (for cats on exhibition only) Best ‘Golden’ Decorated Pen. You can find details on our website of these prizes and all the other ‘golden’ specials we have planned for the show.

A Happy New Year to you all - we hope to see you in February.

Siamese Cat Joint Advisory Committee
The next meeting of the SCJAC will take place on Saturday, 12 May 2007.
The closing date for agenda items (in my possession) will be Saturday, 31 March 2007. My address is La Fuie, 49390 Parçay-les-Pins, France.

The following advice was given to all Siamese Judges in 2001, and is repeated again herewith: Unless a judge is certain a cat should be re-registered as another colour, the SCJAC would prefer that the judge did not “wrong colour” the exhibit, but mark it down for poor colour on the day.
Lin Cobley, Hon Secretary

The next meeting of the Persian Tortie, Tortie & White and Bi-colour BAC will take place at 10.30am on Sunday, 4 March 2007 at Moto Services, Junction 10, M42.

Any items for the agenda, show reports or applications for appointment or promotion should reach me no later than Thursday, 25 January 2007 at 43 Crayford Way, Dartford, Kent DA1 4JY, or email tortiebac.secretary@ntlworld.com

May I also remind Show Managers that they should send me a copy of their show schedule where classes for the following breeds are scheduled: Persian Tortoiseshell, Chocolate Tortoiseshell, Blue-Cream, Lilac-Cream, Tortie and White, Blue Tortie & White, Bi-Colour, including Tabby & White.
Keith Scruton, BAC Secretary

The Somali BAC

The Somali BAC is holding a Seminar, ‘Judging Somalis’, on Sunday, 11 February 2007 at the Wythall Institute Hall, Alcester Road, Wythall, starting at 11am. This venue is just off the A435 from the M42 Junction 3.

The Seminar should be of interest to all Judges, Stewards, Potential Candidates, Breeders and Owners of Somalis, as it will illustrate the priorities when judging the breed and allow opportunity for questions regarding type, colour and ticking etc. There will also be an opportunity for candidates to complete an Assessment. It is hoped to have as many different colours as possible to give judges and candidates as much experience as possible.

The cost for the Seminar will be £7.50, with no charge for those bringing cats. For further information, please contact the BAC Secretary on Tel. 01634 361645, or email anne@beaumaris.fsnet.co.uk
Anne Gregory (Mrs), BAC Secretary
