It is with Sadness that I have to report the death of our Vice President Muriel Calder who passed away peacefully on 17 th January 2007. Muriel had a chest infection since before Christmas and this seemed to have taken her life.
Muriel spent most of her life living in Guildford with her husband where she as a vet she had a practice, however she spent the past few years in a nursing home in the West Country near her daughter.
I first met Muriel who was a Scot back in the early 80's and often stewarded for her, she had the most wicked sense of humour. We became good friends and we often travelled together to shows I remember delivering a car to Scotland when I was judging at the Dundee show with Miss. Marshall as a passenger . Muriel had driven up earlier to visit family and I drove her metro back that was an experience, I was exhausted.
Muriel loved the Birmans and was a founder member of the Seal and Blue Point Birman Cat Club, below is a photo of Muriel at our first AGM presenting cups. .
Due to family being away Muriels crematation will not be until around three weeks time. I will be attending to represent the Seal and Blue Point Birman Cat Club and The National Cat Club (of which she was also an officer) but most of all I will attend to say goodbye to a grand lady. .
