Good cuppa cause

The Blue Cross is urging Britain to ‘pop the kettle on’ for charity. Following the success of last years national Blue Cross Tea Party, animal lovers everywhere are once again encouraged to sign up to host their very own tea party on either Friday, 16th May or a day that suits. All proceeds will go towards the UK’s needy pets.

The charity boasts 11 adoption centres and four animal hospitals around the country and the money raised from this event will go towards supporting their ongoing care for the nation’s sick and homeless animals.

Tracey Chittock, events officer at the Blue Cross, explains how easy and rewarding hosting a tea party can be: ‘Your Blue Cross Tea Party can be as big or as small as you like – every party will contribute towards raising vital funds for the animals in our care. Just £9 a week will help keep a dog’s kennel warm whilst it waits to be re-homed at the adoption centre. So why not sign up and we’ll provide you with plenty of ideas for your own party!’

It needn’t be a large event – you can simply invite your friends, neighbours and family around for a good cuppa and a slice of cake. All they need to do is make a donation to The Blue Cross while they relax with their brew. Your party could take place in a town hall, a school, your home or even, weather permitting, your own back yard! Once registered, participants will receive a fundraising pack that includes a variety of information, as well as: posters, invites and fundraising tips to help make their party an event to remember.

On top of this, the Blue Cross are going one step further this year and holding a Tea Time Treat competition. This is for anyone who wants to submit their original recipe for a mouth-watering treat! Whether it’s for a beautiful bun, a salacious sponge or a fabulous flapjack – your special recipe could be in with a chance of winning one of three wonderful prizes on offer. These include: two tickets for afternoon tea at a top tea venue, a gift set from The Tea Palace and luxury handmade dog collar and lead.

To sign up to host your own tea part in aid of The Blue Cross and to enter the Tea Time Treat competition – please visit www.bluecrossteaparty.org.uk or phone 08444 993 663.

OUR CATS requests that if any of our readers are generously hosting their own Tea Party for the Blue Cross event, then they are welcome to send their pictures and story in to the usual address – we’d love to hear about it!
