b) Judge withdrawals, etc.
a) Mrs Pat Neale has retired from the Cat Fancy. In a letter received at the office Mrs Neale said that she had truly enjoyed every minute but unfortunately Anno Domini had taken its course and at eighty years old she was finding the writing of reports difficult. Mrs Neale ended the letter "With grateful thanks for having me all these years."
b) Mrs Valerie Kilby has resigned as a probationary Judge on the Siamese and Balinese judging lists.
c) Mr Colin Read has resigned as a Probationer Judge of Self Longhairs.
d) Mr Gordon Butler has requested his name to be placed on the Emeritus Judges list with immediate effect
e) Mrs Sally Rainbow-Ockwell has been removed from the Persian Tabby Judges list.
Meeting of the Disciplinary Committee
was held on
Wednesday, 12 March, 2008 at

The Investigation Committee preferred a formal complaint against Mrs H Sabine of 21 Pear Tree Avenue, RIPLEY, Derbyshire DE5 3PR. Prefix: SILKIESTAR.
That the Defendant is in breach of Articles 12(1)(b) and/or 12(1)(d) of the GCCF Constitution in that:-
Since 2004 the GCCF Office received 17 complaints for breaches of GCCF Rules, Section 1, Rules 10a and 10b. Although all of the cases were eventually resolved, this was only possible with the intervention of the GCCF Office and Investigations Committee, leaving new owners without appropriate documentation for significant periods of time.
Mrs Sabine attended the hearing.
Mrs Sabine admitted the complaint and gave the mitigating circumstances in her defence.
The Investigation Committee called one witness.
The Disciplinary Committee found the complaint against Mrs Sabine proved and ordered that she be censured and warned within the meaning of Article 12(4)(c)(i) of the GCCF Constitution.
The Disciplinary Committee further ordered that Mrs Sabine be fined an amount of £50.00, such fine to be paid within 28 days, in accordance with Articles 12(4)(c)(ii) of the GCCF Constitution.
The Disciplinary Committee directed that Mrs Sabine pay the sum of £200.00 by way of costs in accordance with Articles 12(11)(a) and 12(11)(b) of the GCCF Constitution.
The Investigation Committee preferred a formal complaint against Ms C Gilyeat of 2 Bonnyton Road, West Balmirmer, ARBROATH, Angus DD11 2PP. Prefix: CATREBA.
That the Defendant is in breach of Articles 12(11)(b) and/or 12(1)(a) and/or 12(1)(b) (paragraph 1) and/or 12(1)(d) of the GCCF Constitution in that :-
Ms Gilyeat failed to pay the costs of £100 directed against her by the Disciplinary Committee at its meeting held on 18th July, 2007, within one month of the date of the service upon her of the order in accordance with Article 12(11)(b) of the GCCF Constitution.
Ms Gilyeat did not attend the hearing nor was she represented.
Mrs Gilyeat admitted the complaint and sent a letter in mitigation.
The Disciplinary Committee found the complaint against Ms Gilyeat proved by her own admission and ordered that she be suspended sine die until such time as the outstanding costs of £100.00 are paid in accordance with Article 12(4)(b)(i) of the GCCF Constitution. Allowance was not given to her paying in monthly instalments.
Mr Gregory did not sit on the Committee for the hearing of the case against Mrs Harkness.
The Investigation Committee preferred a formal complaint against Miss A Harkness of Mourzouk, 6 Church Road, MONEYREAGH, Co Down BT23 6BB. Prefix: MOURZOUK
That the Defendant is in breach of Articles 12(1)(a) and/or 12(1)(b) (paragraph 1) and/or 12(1)(d) of the GCCF Constitution in that :-
On 30th May 2007 she sold a male kitten to Mrs J Mawhinney. The pedigree she provided for the kitten stated that he was a Blue Somali, named MOURZOUK FINGAL, date of birth 17th March 2007, whose sire was a Blue Somali and dam a Fawn Somali, with all other cats in the pedigree also Somalis. She also registered the kitten with the GCCF as a Blue Somali. Mrs Mawhinney entered MOURZOUK FINGAL in the AOC Somali kitten Open class at the Ulster Siamese and All Breed Cat Club show held on 1st December 2007. The Open class judge, Mr John Hansson, gave the kitten no award, stating on the result slip ’Not as registered’. A full Somali Judge he consulted, Ms Jane Allen, agreed with his opinion. In his report to the Somali Breed Advisory Committee he gave the reasons for his judgement. The Somali Breed Advisory Committee has provided supporting evidence.
By registering a kitten with the GCCF as a Blue Somali that she knew, or should have known, was not a Blue Somali the Defendant acted in a way that was or may have been discreditable and/or prejudicial to the welfare of cats and/or the interest of cat owners and/or the breeding and/or the exhibiting of cats and/or the interests of the GCCF and/or any affiliated Club and/or any member of any of them
and/or
By selling as a Blue Somali a kitten that she knew, or should have known was not a Blue Somali and/or giving the new owner a pedigree stating that the kitten was a Blue Somali when she knew, or should have known it was not a Blue Somali, the Defendant acted in a way that was or may have been discreditable and/or prejudicial to the welfare of cats and/or the interest of the new owner and/or the breeding and/or the exhibiting of cats and/or the interests of the GCCF and/or any affiliated Club and/or any member of any of them.
Mrs Harkness did not attend the hearing nor was she represented.
Miss Harkness denied the complaint and sent a letter in her defence.
The Investigation Committee called three witnesses.
The Disciplinary Committee found the complaint against Miss Harkness proved and ordered that she be suspended for a period of two years in accordance with Article 12(4)(b)(i) of the GCCF Constitution.
The Disciplinary Committee further ordered that Mrs Harkness be fined an amount of £100, such fine to be paid within 28 days, in accordance with Articles 12(4)(c)(ii) of the GCCF Constitution.
The Disciplinary Committee directed that Mrs Harkness pay the sum of £250 by way of costs in accordance with Articles 12(11)(a) and 12(11)(b) of the GCCF Constitution.
