Voting power

Now that the Official Journal Status position of OUR CATS has been resolved, may I remind all Delegates that the solution is in our own hands at the June Electoral Council Meeting.

If we are unhappy with the actions of any Officers of the GCCF Executive, we have it in our power not to vote for any of them. We should remember that if we want 'fresh air' to be blown through Exec, then it is in our hands.

May I suggest that ALL clubs who have been unhappy with the disgraceful Official Journal saga instruct their Delegates to Council accordingly. Whilst I personally think there are a few members of the current Executive Committee whom I would be happy to see re-elected, I am sure that most delegates know those whom we should not support.

Many thanks to all our friends in the cat fancy

I regret to advise that owing to circumstances beyond my control, some of my Show Reports are going to be delayed. As many readers already know, my step-grandchildren ADAM and SOPHIE were the only survivors of a road traffic accident (RTA) that killed seven others including their maternal grandparents and aunt, plus the four occupants of the car that hit the one their grandfather (John Kirby) was driving.

The RTA occurred between Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh at 9.15pm on Friday, 7th March whilst Colin (the children's grandfather) and I were enjoying the hospitality of the Lancashire Cat Club in Wigan. The first we heard of the crash was at 7.30am the following morning on waking in our hotel bedroom. We were told that as there was nothing we could do since the children were in theatre at Frenchay & Bristol Royal Children's Hospitals respectively, we might as well complete our obligations at the show before returning home. Since then our lives have been on hold, so to speak, dividing our time between work and the hospitals, hence the writing of my critiques is progressing at snails pace, I'm afraid.

I'm delighted to report that the children are improving far more quickly than was first anticipated, so much so that Adam was allowed home for the weekend (5th/6th April) for the first time. He is ecstatic as Stow Rugby team (for whom he is water boy) is playing at home and he is going along to watch as guest of honour! He will have to return to hospital for another operation next week though. Sophie had a skin graft op today and is rather disappointed that she won't be allowed home this weekend, so we're going to spoil her tomorrow! Unfortunately we have recently learnt that she has contracted MRSA, so please keep your fingers crossed for her and remember her in your prayers.

On behalf of Colin, the children's parents, my stepson Nick and Tina his ex-wife and Adam and Sophie, I would like to say an enormous "thank you" to all our friends and supporters in the Fancy for the lovely cards and many 'phone calls/text messages and e-mails that have been of such comfort. Thank you particularly everyone at the Lancs - Lynda, Simon, Judy and Jerry, Sarndra, Jean, Penny, Tommy, Steve, Celia, Janet, John, Sue, Sal, Judith, Adrian, Helen, Chris, Malcolm, Elaine, John, Sandie, Jim, the Kernow contingent and many others - please forgive me for any I've missed. We have had more genuine loving support from our friends in the Fancy than from anyone else. You are just the most wonderful people in the World and we truly value your friendship and concern, which have been of tremendous help to us both. Our love and profound gratitude to you all.

In the meantime, anyone not wanting to wait for a written critique to appear is welcome to a verbal one on the exhibits that I judged at the Wessex and Lancs (also the Kernow, RCA/SCC/AGCS etc at which I am about to judge). Please call me in the evenings after 7.30pm or at weekends on (01452) 723878.

Looking forward to seeing you all again soon.
