Anything at all that you think would be of interest to the Members - doesn’t have to be cat related!

A shield and rosette will be awarded to the winning cats in both Pedigree and Non Pedigree Sections, and these will be presented to the winners at the 2006 show.

The competition is open to all cats - both Pedigree and Non Pedigree - belonging to fully paid-up Members of the Club. The competition will run from the date of our show in 2005 and will close on the entry closing date for our 2006 show.

Points will be awarded as follows: Open Class 1st = 5 points; Open Class 2nd = 3 points; Best of Breed = 3 points; Grand Class Certificate = 5 points; Imperial Grand Class Certificate = 5 points; Reserve Grand Class Certificate = 3 points; Reserve Imperial Grand Class Certificate = 3 points; Best in Show/Variety = 10 points.

The Birman Cat Club

This year sees The Birman Cat Club hold its 22nd Annual Championship Show on Saturday, 5 November, at the Bracknell Sports & Leisure Centre, Berkshire. Schedules are now available from the Show Manager, Val Kilby, at Isla House, Cheviot Park, Foulden, Berwickshire TD15 1US (please send an SAE C5 size), or by downloading from the Club website - www.birmancatclub.co.uk

In addition to the split Grand Classes, we shall also be holding Imperial Classes solely for Birmans - along with our popular Fireside exhibition for our pampered pet Birmans, and the day culminates in the Best in Show Finale!

Following the Show, our 6th After Show Dinner will be held at the Savill Court Hotel, Egham, Surrey, just a few minutes easy drive from the show. Special discounted rates are available to Members and their guests wishing to stay overnight. Our Dinner is now well established, and has become an event not to be missed in the Cat Fancy Show Calendar. This year promises to be the best ever with the festivities based upon celebrating the 60th anniversary of VE Day (but minus the ration books!).

Whilst the Dinner dress code remains “smart casual”, it is very much hoped that the vast majority of guests (led by Members of the Committee!) will enter into the spirit by opting to wear 1940s civilian or forces dress/hair-do’s, etc. Nylons may be available should any GI’s be present - failing that, I suppose it’s back to the teabags and black eyeliner down our legs! Glen Miller sounds will be in abundance, with more modern sounds for our baby boomer members!

The evening really does promise to be a most happy, yet nostalgic and memorable occasion, and Members are urged to book as soon as possible. Tickets for the three-course silver service dinner (mess tins optional!) are priced at £25, and can be booked through Anne and Peter Madden on 01993 843163.

We look forward to seeing everyone in their glamorous 40s outfits!
We would like to remind Members that if you wish to take a Breeder Card advertisement on the Club pages in the 2005 Supreme Show Catalogue, please send your cheque (£10 per card), copy and graphics to Heather Collings, 27 Hull Road, Beverley, East Yorkshire HU17 0PN.

The deadline for adverts is fast approaching, so please let Heather have all the details by 31 August. Heather can be contacted by email at heather@bydezyne.caroo.co. uk, or by telephone on 01482 862306.

Cumberland Cat Club
Please will anyone who has a Cumberland Cat Club Trophy (some have been missing for two years), please return them to me on show day, or before. I shall be on the ‘Fleece Stall’ at both the Teesside and Northern Counties shows, and you can return the trophies there or hand them in at the OUR CATS stand.

If you are not going to either of these shows, perhaps a friend could return them on your behalf?
If you need to post them, the address to send them to is Bowland Field Farm, East Lancs Road, Leigh, Lancashire WN7 3SE.
