My cat keeps me in touch with my inner kitten!

CATS Protection Week (10-17 September 2005) will look at the very important relationship between older people and their cats. This year’s theme is My cat keeps me in touch with my inner kitten.

The charity has just completed a comprehensive survey amongst cat owners aged 55 and over concerning their cats’ ability to keep them feeling young, happy and healthy. The findings, to be released in September, will reveal many interesting facts, including:

Cats help us act and feel younger - Many people agreed that they would act and feel older if they did not have a cat.

We enjoy playing with our cats - Most owners said they enjoyed playing with their cat. However, the older the owner, the more important this became.

Cats add quality to life - A large majority of owners strongly agreed that cats add to quality of life.
