Our Cats Shop

New-look website is the cat’s whiskers!

CAT lovers worldwide can click onto cats with confidence because from 29 July 2005, Cats Protection’s new-look website is up and running!

The charity is really looking to the future with its re-designed website and is keen to satisfy the public’s growing interest in cats.

“Cats attract a lot of attention - the quest for knowledge about the UK’s favourite pet is huge”, explained Susan Gorridge, the charity’s Acting Head of Marketing. “A well designed website is the ideal way to impart information on all things feline, so we’ve taken a lot of trouble to get the new site just right. It’s user-friendly and easy to navigate, making it fun to use for young and old”.
The new site (www.cats.org. uk) is both bright and engaging and offers lots of interesting features designed with user’s needs in mind:

New homepage is eye-catching and directs visitors to particular areas of interest by updating regularly.

Brand new, in-depth cat care FAQs on a multitude of topics making finding answers easier and quicker.

‘Key cat care’ section contains detailed information about vaccination, neutering, microchipping and the charity’s diabetic cat register.

Extensive events diary includes national and regional events for those interested in getting involved with Cats Protection anywhere around the country.

‘Our History’ page brings the charity’s past to life on screen, charting the organisation’s work over the years.

Dedicated media centre includes searchable news releases, facts and figures and spokespeople.

Easy to use site search.

But the website still includes some firm favourites from the old site:

Downloadable information leaflets

Facility to donate online, quickly and easily

Info on how to home a CP cat

Searchable cat terms glossary

Shows timetable

Cat books

To reflect the charity’s strong regional presence, the website now contains a much simpler Branch Adoption Centre and charity shop search. The Adoption Centre information includes maps, photos, addresses, contact details and opening times. “We have an extensive regional network around the UK. Their representation is important to enable website visitors to discover what’s going on in their area and to find out about local cats looking for new homes”, said Susan.

The website has been designed to evolve over the coming years, so keep your eyes open for new features. The primary aim of the site is to help highlight the charity’s feline rehabilitation and rehoming work. Every year, Cats Protection rehomes 60,000 cats through its nationwide network of 29 Adoption Centres and 260 voluntary-run Branches.
