Anita Schwartz appointed new Fort Dodge Feline Fellow
All too often the hAnimal health specialist, Fort Dodge Animal Health, has announced the appointment of Anita Schwartz as the new Fort Dodge Feline Fellow. She is working at The Feline Centre at the University of Bristol’s School of Veterinary Science. Anita, who has taken over from Rachel Dean, graduated in veterinary medicine from the University of Munich five years ago. She took up her post during October.
During her time as Fort Dodge Feline Fellow, Anita will be involved in all aspects of The Feline Centre’s activities, including research studies, clinical work and teaching. She aims to present a research abstract at the annual conference of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association in 2006 and will also speak at other key events during the academic year.
Since graduating five years ago, Anita gained experience at the infectious disease section of Munich University’s small animal clinic. She then spent two years at The University of Georgia, USA, conducting a research study into feline immunodeficiency virus. After this, she undertook a clinical small animal internship at Michigan State University.
Commenting on her appointment, Anita said: “I have lived with cats since childhood, which is why I’ve developed a particular interest in feline medicine. Internal medicine has been my primary focus since the first clinical semesters in veterinary school and my special interest lies in feline infectious diseases and management of geriatric patients.’
‘The post of the Fort Dodge Feline Fellow was appealing because of the diversity it offers.’
Andy Little, technical consultant at Fort Dodge, said: ‘Anita impressed us with her combination of research and clinical experience. With her outgoing personality, I’m sure she will make a great contribution to The Feline Centre and maintain the excellent tradition of the Fort Dodge Feline Fellow position.’
