SOFA exhibition hosted by Cats Protection at its National Cat Centre
Cats Protection is hosting a Society of Feline Artists (SOFA) Art Exhibition at its National Cat Centre (NCC) near Haywards Heath, Sussex. The exhibition will take place from 13–23 April and will be open from 12-4pm each day.

Over 150 exhibits featuring a wide range of work from the UK’s best feline artists will be on display, with proceeds from the sale of the exhibits benefiting CP and furthering the charity’s rescue and rehoming work. With SOFA’s support, the exhibition is being held to help celebrate the recent opening of the country’s largest Adoption Centre by Cats Protection, which has facilities to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome thousands of cats each year.

Cats Protection is also holding an Open Day at the NCC on Sunday, 17 April. Members of the public are invited to come along and meet the cats and see how felines make purr-fect pets. The event takes place between 11am-4pm and features free entertainment and entry to the SOFA exhibition.

For directions to the National Cat Centre or for more information about the Exhibition and the Open Day, please phone the charity’s Helpline on 08702 099 099 or log on to www.cats.org.uk

Wetnose & Tsunami update
After a very hectic six weeks, the International Wetnose Animal Aid Organisation (based in Norfolk) has managed to raise over £4,500 in one month and have started sending it to Animal Rescue Centres in Thailand and India to help the Tsunami Animal Centres, who are working from early morning till late at night, feeding lost and stray animals and taking the injured ones to special vet camps. Wetnose is helping: Wildlife SOS in India, The Soi Dog Foundation in Phuket, The Blue Cross in India and Animal Asia.

Andrea Gamby-Boulger said “The response has been fantastic, people all over the Country have been so generous and I would like to thank everybody who has helped us so far. We still have a long way to go, so keep those donations rolling in please. Wetnose has already sent off £1500 to Soi Dog Foundation, £1,000 to Wildlife SOS and also £1,200 to Blue Cross in India. But we still have a long way to go. These centres need thousands of pounds for their Animal Welfare work which will go on for many months to come, so don’t forget about the animals, just because the TV crews have gone.”

Geeta Seshamani from Wildlife SOS says “This is very generous donation and quite overwhelming. I cannot express adequate thanks. We are working hard in the Andaman and Nicobar islands where the animals have received no assistance at all. Currently we are feeding over 1500 cows and 167 goats and 55 dogs and many cats on the main land and another 120 dogs on Little Andaman. We have two vets who have volunteered to work for two weeks and will stay in Deli. We still lots to do here and in other areas.”

Vet Brian Stenson (in white) seen below left with Wetnose Director, Gavin Gamby-Boulger, and Wetnose supporter, DJ David Hamilton, has been given cheque for £1,500 from Wetnose to help him buy supplies and equipment when he goes to Phuket next week, to help the Soi Dog Foundation who have set up a clinic to help the Tsunami Animals. Brian said “It will be hard work working until the early hours and very emotional as well. But thanks to Wetnose I can buy supplies out there and make a start”. More money will be sent in a month or so and will continue for the rest of the year.

DJ David Hamilton visiting the Midlands vet surgery in Leyton, London said “It’s vital too help the animals as these people depend on the animals for there survival. For some it is the only family they have left. By helping the animals we are also helping the people, we must not forget that, the animals are important too. So keep your donations coming in!”

Our Tsunami Animal Fund Raising Day is on Friday the 27th May 2005 so get planning now - schools, girl guides, scouts, dog training clubs, cat clubs and shows - anybody can join in, please ask for an information pack.

Send your donations to: Wetnose Overseas Fund, Newgate Lodge, Newgate, Kirby Cane, Norfolk, NR35 2PP. Telephone No. 01508 518 650 or visit our website for the latest updates on www.wetnose.co.uk
