A NIGHT on the tiles took on a terrifying new meaning for a curious chicken-loving moggy who got stuck on a bungalow roof - temporally blinded by the plastic bag stuck on its head.
The black moggy was spotted sitting on a roof in Chudleigh, Devon. Its head was trapped inside a plastic bag, which had once contained frozen chicken fillets from a supermarket.
After a night sitting on the tiles, too afraid to move, the petrified animal was finally rescued when a member of the public saw the unfortunate feline and called the RSPCA.
RSPCA chief inspector Neil Thomas was tasked to rescue the cat from the bungalow at Palace Meadow at about 7.30am on
23 April. The animal was clinging near the apex of the roof about 15ft above the ground.

It was rescued with the help of the owner of CJ Stone Electrical who was nearby, and provided a ladder for Inspector Thomas to use to get onto the roof.
Neil Thomas said: “The cat was absolutely terrified, and although it could not see me when I climbed up the ladder to catch it, it heard or sensed me and tried to back away. Luckily I was able to net it quickly and once safely back on the ground, and minus the bag, it was fine”.
The cat, which was damp from a night outside, but unharmed, was known to live locally, so it was released to make its own way home.
Neil said: “The cat could obviously smell chicken in the bag, but once it had stuck its head in to investigate, it could not get free. In its panic the cat probably got quite manic and somehow ended up on the roof, but was then afraid to move.
“The other possibility is that it took the bag on the roof to eat in privacy and then got its head stuck, either way it is very lucky, as a fall from that height would have been very dangerous.
“Incidents like this go to show how vital it is that litter is disposed of properly and rubbish is put inside secure bins where curious pets and wildlife cannot get to it and be harmed”.
