RSPCA launches new children’s titles

HAMISH, Ruff, Cassie and Chalk & Cheese are the latest cute and cuddly characters from RSPCA Perfect Pets to feature in children’s books. The new titles, published by Ravette Publishing, are an exciting addition to the Perfect Pets storybook range which was launched in 2003.

RSPCA Perfect Pets are a group of irresistible rescue animals designed to educate children about the responsibility of pet ownership, without having the responsibility of owning a real animal. The animals are available as soft toys and also feature on a wider range of merchandise including clothes, stationery, sticker albums, badges and inflatables, as well as storybooks.

The stories focus on different animal characters that have their own personalities and tales to tell about the adventures they have. The books will be available from the middle of May 2005 in all good booksthops including Waterstones, Ottakars, W. H. Smiths, Books etc, and many independents. And for every book sold, the RSPCA will receive a percentage of the sale.

The new titles are:
• Hamish the Hamster - Star of the Show: Featuring Hamish who hates being groomed and runs away from a pet show, causing lots of trouble.

• Ruff the Lively Rascal - A good Dog is a Safe Dog: When playing in the park, Ruff the untrained dog disobeys his master and runs off causing an accident.

• Cassie the Posh Cat - Staying in Shape: Starring Cassie who goes on a diet and takes lots of exercise when her tummy starts getting fat.

• Chalk & Cheese - Town and Country Mice: When separated after being together all their lives, brave little Chalk & Cheese set off to find each other.

Anthony Baumann, Head of Fundraising at the RSPCA, said: “The RSPCA Perfect Pets range has been a great success in giving children the opportunity to learn about caring for pets, before taking on the responsibility of owning a real animal. The latest storybooks are a welcome addition and will certainly help us to continue emphasising our welfare message, as well as bring in valuable funds for the RSPCA”.

The books retail at £2.99 each. For further details of stockists contact Ravette Publishing Ltd on 01403 711443 or email ravettepub@aol.com
