Would all exhibitors who are intending to enter our Championship Show on 23 July please note that there is a list of Judge amendments inserted before Class 1 in our recently issued schedule.
I have had two phone calls from people who have not noticed this, so in case you have any concerns about who is judging your Open Class, please check this part of the schedule carefully - it may save you a phone call.

Semi Long Hair Cat Association
A very successful AGM was held this year in the Oliver Bird Hall on 8 May 2005 with 41 Members attending - a record number. Heather Horton (Chair), welcomed Members and guests. She reported on the successful year of the Club and on our recently held third Championship Show run by our Show Manager, Shirley Talboys, with Di Taylor as Assistant Show Manager.

There are some changes to the Committee. Melva Eccles has resigned due to other commitments, and we are very sorry to lose her. She has been a conscientious Committee Member representing the Turkish Van and has run the Breeders List for several years.

There were two other vacancies, and in these places three new Committee Members are joining us. These are Mandy Symonds, who has Siberians; Fione Hermon, how has Norwegian Forest Cats and Chris Campion, who has Ragdolls and Siberians. We are very pleased to welcome representatives of Siberians to the Club. Other Committee Members are Heather Horton (Chair), Shirley Talboys (Vice-Chair), Elaine Harvey (Hon Secretary), Charles Eveniss (Treasurer), Dawn Davies, Di Taylor, Anne Waite, Mary-Rose Douglas, Dot and Gordon Stables and Mary Cockcroft. Gordon is taking over the job of Membership Secretary from Charles.

At the AGM, Charles reported that our finances are sound and welcomes the contributions from sales, raffles, etc. Dawn Davies produced a superb SLHCA Calendar for 2005. Funds have also been raised via the Book and the Sales Table. The Book Stall is run by Dot and Gordon Stables. The Sales Table has been organised by Heather Horton. Dot Stables, as Show Support Secretary, offers support to the breed clubs, also the Supreme and the National Cat Club. Melva reported that there were 49 Members listed on the Breeders List at the end of 2004. Fiona Hermon has agreed to take on the Breeders List together with the Kitten Register. Mary Cockcroft edited a wonderful Club Magazine of 112 pages of informative and entertaining articles.

Following a refreshment break, Margaret Bell, our Patron, distributed the Points Trophies and the rosettes for titled cats. This was followed by Margaret’s presentation of her own award of Waterford Crystal to a Member’s cat chosen at the SLHCA Show. This year the award went to Don and Liz Coward for their NFC Neuter, Gr Pr Nordlys Athanasias. Meanwhile, don’t forget to look at our website which Mary regularly updates - www.semi longhaircats.co.uk - and on which the show photos are already displayed. Points Trophy awards and show winners will be reported in full in our autumn magazine.

Lastly, Dawn is holding a Garden Party at her home on Sunday, 28 August 2005, with profits shared between the SLHCA and Ragdoll Rescue. We hope to meet up with our Members old and new - details will appear in the Newsletter.

Did you enjoy the “Timewatch” programme on the excavations of the Colosseum at Chester. Why not come along with the Club and see lots of other historical buildings and learn about the history of the City.
