A good bet for animal welfare
A DONATION of £500 has been made to The Blue Cross animal hospital in Victoria, London, by bookmakers Ladbrokes to continue the valuable service that it provides for local pets.
Marie Cunniffe, manager of the Pimlico Place branch of Ladbrokes, presented a cheque today to Caroline Powley, deputy head nurse, and Frodo the cat, who has been recently treated and rehomed by the hospital.
Caroline said: “The Blue Cross is very grateful to Ladbrokes for this generous donation. It will help us to maintain the high standard of care provided by this hospital for local people and their pets”.
The Blue Cross believes that every pet deserves proper veterinary care, and to achieve this aim its teams of veterinary staff work tirelessly to offer free treatment to pet owners on low incomes or are on means-tested benefits. Without the help of The Blue Cross veterinary services and its four animal hospitals, many would not be able to own a pet at all.
Last year The Blue Cross carried out over 75,000 consultations, operations and diagnostic procedures. To find out more about its veterinary work, visit www.blue cross.org.uk
