The Amercain
Dream
THE 2005 Maine Coon Cat Club Show promises to be an exciting event for all Maine Coon and Non-Pedigree lovers. Last year, 150 Maine Coons and 11 Non Pedigrees entered in competition, and proved to be a great opportunity for those interested in the breed to see a wide array of colours from tabbies and solids to shadeds and smokes. People travel from all over the country to see so many of these beautiful cats together, and this is your opportunity to be part of the largest exhibition of Maine Coons under one roof in the UK.
This year we have separate Open Classes for Brown Tabby Series, Silver Tabby Series, Red Tabby Series and AOC, with an extra Neuter Open Class for Brown/Blue Tabby & White Maine Coons. In addition to this, for those of you with Champion or Premier titled cats, we have Grand Classes for Maine Coons and these have been sub-split into Brown Tabby Series and AOC. To top this, we are also able to offer Imperial Grand Classes just for Maine Coons. No other standard GCCF Championship Show offers all these classes in this format.
So dust off your Champions, Premiers, Grand Champions and Grand Premiers and bring them along to stand a chance of winning one of these certificates. If your cat is looking to gain a CC or PC, then we have more classes than any other show and cats of similar pattern will compete against each other, rather than solids and smokes competing against tabbies, as happens at all other shows. Remember, “You gotta be in it to win it!” and there’s no better opportunity than at the Maine Coon Cat Club Show.
As well as the standard Miscellaneous Classes, we also hold our “Just For Fun” section where Maine Coons compete for titles such as “Best Lynx Tips”, “Handsomest male” or “Prettiest Female”. This way, top show cats or a much loved pet have an equal chance of winning a rosette in this section. This enables our pet members to join in with the fun side of showing.
For those Household Pet exhibitors, we not only offer a variety of Open Classes, but Open Class winners go on to compete for Best of Colour and eventually Best in Show. We also hold the Royal Canin Midlands Non-Pedigree Stakes, with a chance to win food vouchers and also to compete in the final in February 2006. We also have a wide variety of Miscellaneous Classes for Non Pedigrees. Our Best in Show Non-Pedigree is penned side by side with our Best in Show Maine Coon exhibits and stands the chance to win some fabulous trophies, as well as featuring on the Club website and in the summer newsletter.
The show takes place on Saturday, 25 June 2005, at the Rawlett Community Sports Centre, Comberford Road, Tamworth, Staffs B79 9AA. This hall is on the edge of Tamworth and is easily accessible from either the A38 or the M42/A5. There is plenty of free parking and home cooked food at reasonable prices.
If you are interested and would like a schedule, then please send an A5 stamped addressed envelope to: MCCC Schedule, c/o Mr David Howe, 21 Fitzalan Road, Handsworth, Sheffield, South Yorks S13 9AW.
