Little Gizmo delivers big smiles
“Thanks to the team at GSC I have the light, the love and the joy of my life again”, wrote Dan, a 40-something investment councillor, in an email to Genetic Savings & Clone after becoming the second paying client to receive a pet clone from the company.
GSC officials delivered Little Gizmo to Dan’s door in February. She’s a clone of Gizmo, his mixed-breed Siamese who died at age 13 in March 2004.
“There are no words to describe how happy I am. She is exact, exact, exact in all of mannerisms, habits, traits and personality”, Dan wrote of Little Gizmo’s similarity to Gizmo.
Little Gizmo is the latest example of the excellent results GSC is achieving with chromatin transfer, the advanced cloning technology for which GSC holds the exclusive license for use in pet cloning.
“Valentine’s Day was a special day for GSC, because our business is all about the love between people and their exceptional pets”, said GSC CEO Lou Hawthorne, who delivered Little Gizmo with Mike Hodnett, the company’s Ser VP of Sales & marketing. “With our second commercial cat clone delivery, we have again duplicated an exceptional pet, and made a certain client very, very happy”.
Cat cloning price drops to $32,000
On Genetic Savings & Clone’s fifth anniversary the company announced the new price of $32,000 for its feline cloning service, down from $50,000 last year. The opening of GSC’s new cloning facility in Wisconsin shortly will streamline the company’s workflow, resulting in reduced costs.
Chromatin transfer (CT), the advanced cloning technology GSC now uses, is another factor in the price reduction.
“Not only has CT helped us produce healthy, normal cats”, Dr Phil Damiani, GSC’s Chief Scientific Officer said, “but it has also increased efficiency, which means we require fewer surrogate mothers than we would otherwise”.
The new price will remain in effect for at least a year.
Move over Elvis: cats wow vets in Vegas
Mango and Peaches - a two-year-old orange tabby cat and her clone - stole the show at the 77th Annual Western Veterinary Conference in Las Vegas recently. Many of the 1,400 conference attendees visited the Genetic Savings & Clone booth to observe the striking resemblance between the cats.
GSC exhibited at the conference to raise awareness of the company’s new Veterinary Partner Program. GSC provides licensed veterinarians with training, educational and marketing materials, and technical support to enable them to assist their clients in gene banking and cloning their pets.
“We want our clients to be confident that their veterinarians understand how these procedures are done”, said GSC’s Senior VP of Sales & Marketing, Mike Hodnett.
GSC Feline Surrogate Manager, Leslie Ungerer, who cares for Mango and Peaches, was on hand to show off the cats and answer questions about them.
“I was really glad to meet veterinarians who understand what we’re doing and feel excited about it”, said Leslie. “I told them, this is a new option they can offer their clients, especially people whose cats are getting older”.
There is no cost to join GSC’s Veterinary Partner Program at this time. Veterinarians can get information about GSC Veterinary Partner Program from Client Services Manager J. T. Fenn on 415 289 2525 (if phoning from outside the USA).
