GRAND CHAMPION MARUJA SAMSON
When asked to write about Sam it is difficult to know where to start - he was such a wonderful cat and sired so many beautiful, healthy kittens.

So I decided to go back to the beginning when I first became interested in British Shorthairs. I bought a part pedigree British Blue Cream at a pet shop whilst on holiday and that’s where my love of the breed began. I went to cat shows and talked to breeders to find a good queen, and eventually met Marie Sealy and bought Rieond Rebecca, a beautiful British Blue kitten. Rebecca became a Champion fairly quickly and it was in her second litter that Samson was born. The stud cat I used was Miletree Dreadnaught, another beautiful British Blue, and Rebecca had 2 kittens, 1 male and 1 female.

I think it was obvious from a very young age that Sam was something special and by the age of 8 months he was winning Best of Breed at shows. When he was 1 year old he won overall Best in Show at the Bedford and District Cat Club and then I took him to the Supreme show shortly after, hoping he might just win his class. He not only won his class he won Best of Variety and came a close second to the overall Best in Show. I will never forget that day, I was shaking by the end of it, I couldn’t take it all in. The following year he won his first UK Grand certificate at the Supreme show but then I retired him from showing and kept him for breeding.

I bred many beautiful kittens from him and below are just a few of the Champions and Grand Champions he has sired

He was the father of:

Gr Ch & UK Gr Pr Diwali Mumtaz Mahal (31a), Ch & Gr Pr Diwali Dhita (22a),
Gr Ch Diwali Sita (22a)

He was the Grandfather of:

Supreme UK Gr Ch Miletree For Shaw (16), Gr Ch Diwali Draig Glas (16)
And the Great-Grandfather of:

Gr Ch Bumpkin Brunel (16), Gr Ch Pridykats Shakakhan (16)

I actually retired Sam at the age of 8 years and he then spent many happy years living indoors in comfort and was much loved by all my family. I am so proud of all his achievements, he put nothing but good into so many pedigrees and I hope he will never be forgotten. I hope to visit some cat shows over the next few months and look forward to meeting up with some old friends.

Garden Party Fun

On 28 August 2005, a group of devoted cat lovers gathered in a Hertfordshire garden, to for a garden party, hosted by Dawn and Glyn Davies, to raise money for both the UKRCC and the Semi Longhaired Cat Association (SLHCA).

People travelled from all corners of the UK to support us, including some of the adopters of the 30+ Ragdolls the UKRCC have rehomed this year. The day was fantastic, with stalls, a raffle, a photo competition and an auction.

There was a barbecue, an impressive buffet and plenty of cat chat and fun. Food and drink flowed, along with the guest’s generosity, who all supported the day so wonderfully.

The day was a bigger success than we could ever have imagined. The grand total raised was £1725, £1150 for UKRCC rehoming funds and £575 for the SLHCA.

A huge thank you to all involved in making the day such a success and helping us to continue the vital rehoming work we carry out.

The United Kingdom Ragdoll Cat Community has an active and successful Ragdoll re-homing scheme, with dedicated volunteers across the UK who work together to secure the welfare of Ragdolls needing new homes. We provide foster care whenever necessary and fund veterinary care, vaccination and neutering of any rehome Ragdolls requiring it. All this requires funds.

Healing Touch!
Norma Yanez invites you to try the following method of healing…

Healing Touch (aka HT) has evolved over eons of years into a way to give help to an animal or human who is ailing. You do not have to be trained medically, although it is now being used in hospitals.... and all that is asked of you is a sincere wish to give relief. Plus, remember that it is not necessary to actually physically touch who or what you are working on. We have used HT with people, animals, and even a GIANT dagger sharp thorny two story high sick Saguaro Cactus tree. HT is “never” to replace proper medical assistance. But it certainly can help in conjunction with any other treatments. I will describe my favourite move to you in easy to understand words…

Everything, living or dead, animate or inanimate, has a ‘photographable aura’. Using Kirlian photography, an aura can show up as vivid colors, broken or jagged images, or even flatline. Auras keep changing according to how we are feeling.

We are going to work with the aura which is directly connected to anything you will want to help with this HT modality.... Imagine a visible, palpable coloured energy protective coating around who or what you wish to give assistance to. ALWAYS BEGIN YOUR SESSIONS WITH A PERSONAL PRAYER OR MEDITATION OF PROTECTION FOR YOURSELF AND THE AFFLICTED ONE. It can be as brief as a momentary thought.

Now take these three fingers on both hands.... Your thumbs, index, and middle fingers.... and bring them together to make a point. This is the mental laser energy focus you will be using. With both hands comfortably spaced apart, and the fingers joined together in the point over or near who you are working on... Make circles around the afflicted areas of your patient’s body. Go on with the circular motions for a few seconds and then pull out. Mentally send what is being pulled out to whatever you believe in as God, or if atheist, the pure goodness. Picture your fingers like loving healing magnets sucking out inflammation, pain, infection, etc. Keep doing this for a few seconds and then pull out and discard until your intuitive self takes over and tells you it is enough. In only a few seconds of doing these moves, science has shown changes in a patient’s aura.

Do the entire body of whomever you work on but give special attention to afflicted areas. When you feel it is enough for one session, we always close with gently spreading the aura. There is no set time with this process. You are working at a higher level of intuitive energy.
SPREADING THE AURA.....

Using both hands, face your flat palms towards your patient. Imagine the aura and go to the centre (spinal column) of the patient’s body. Gently move your wide opened hands from CENTER outward spreading the auric energy as far away from the patient’s body as you can mentally perceive it to go. Do this until you feel the aura is completely and gently spread outwards from head to toes, and again... There is no set time. As soon as you feel finished, you are. Breathe deeply and breathe out slowly, to cleanse yourself from the experience.

Worldwide Cat Calendar Chaos

People in the Siamese & Oriental world have been inundating Hubbell Bubbell Message forum with pictures of their cats. What started as a half-jokey idea to produce an A4 member’s calendar for 2006 has turned into a frenzy of photography and outlandish schemes to ensure inclusion in the glossy A3 publication.

Pictures were submitted for a member vote. Each month will have four or five pictures of members cats which have been chosen for inclusion by a poll of all those who are members of the board. The calendar design had to be changed to allow for the inclusion of extra cats and those cats who didn’t win a place on a month page will be included in a special gallery page so no-one is being left out. The original plan to print forty calendars has been revised upwards several times and now looks set to top the 100 mark.

Anna Shafto, of Hubbell Siamese, who owns the message board said “We had no idea the calendar idea would be so popular. My email and message inbox has been overflowing and at one stage the board looked close to meltdown as members posted their offerings in ever increasing numbers.

Over 200 pictures were submitted in total; some people even dressed their cats in Christmassy outfits or drew Santa hats on their photographs in the hope of getting a place on the coveted December page.”

The Supreme Cat Show (19 November 2005) will gain a boost in visitors as a direct result of the calendar’s popularity. Most of the members have chosen to visit the show as a means of collecting their calendars; others will have them posted to them. People are ordering as many as four and five calendars each and are coming from as far away as Italy and Norway, as well as from all over the UK, in order to pick them up.

Hubbell Bubbell is also donating a number of calendars to Siamese Rescue to help them raise funds.

It’s too late to get your cat in the 2006 calendar, but with membership to www.hubbellbubbell.co.uk being totally free and with other projects of a similar nature being planned for the coming year, it is well worth joining and becoming part of a fast growing community of Siamese, Oriental & Foreign White friends.
