Britain’s first Imperial cat - a Brown Burmese!

The very *first cat to become an “Imperial” is Mrs Sandra Bridges’ brown Burmese, Gr Ch Adtrebu Trinity. She was awarded her fifth Imperial Grand Certificate at Teesside Cat Club show on Saturday, 27 August.

Imperial Grand Champion Adtrebu Trinity

This very special little cat, just over two years old, has won this prestigious award in five straight shows. OUR CATS is delighted to offer our most sincere congratulations to both her and her owner - I am sure that all our readers will join us in saying a resounding “Well done!”

A delighted Sandra Bridges told OUR CATS, “Imperial Grand Champion Adtrebu Trinity (27) or Berry as she’s called at home, started her show career at seven months by winning Best of Variety kitten at her first show, the Cheshire Area.

She went from strength to strength becoming a Champion at eleven months and a Grand at seventeen months. After the Supreme last year, she took seven months out due to maternal duties, coming back onto the show scene in June this year - winning one of the first Imperials to be awarded at the Merseyside.

In five consecutive shows she has been awarded five Imperial Certificates, being entered for the Imperial and B.O.B. catagories only. My sincere thanks go to Berry’s breeder, Bev Taylor and her judges; Mesdames M. Walkden, J. Green, S. Rose, V. Kilby and L. Dixon. Berry, has taken all this in her stride and as for me - my feet are yet to touch the ground!”

Berry’s judge, who awarded the all-important firth certificate, at the Teesside Cat Club show was Lynne Dixon. Lynne told OUR CATS that “Berry” was the first cat she saw when she began her day’s judging and that she had remarked to her steward,

“This cat is stunning! The rest of the cats here today have a lot to live up to!” When asked to describe this girl, Lynne said, “She is so very gentle, elegant and relaxed. Her profile is amazing from all angles and she is so typical in both type and temperament. She was a joy to handle and I was sorely tempted to take her home with me!”

The Burmese Cat Club consider Berry’s achievement to be the “icing on the cake” as the club is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. The fact that “Berry” is a Brown girl (the breed’s original colour) too, is just “wonderful news” said the Club’s President, Margaret Somers.
