A SUPREME DAY OUT

Well what a day! The annual blitz known as the Supreme cat show took place on Saturday and it was over no sooner than it began....the day seems to fly by! But what a day for our principal winners and congratulations to them all...full details in the results panel below.

The day did not get off to a great start as bad weather and the perennial car and traffic problems caused the organisers to understandably delay judging.....in fact it did feel strangely empty up to about 10am when the general public were allowed in.

However things soon hotted up and the team on the Our Cats stand were certainly kept busy for the day, as were our near neighbours Royal Canin and Mad about Cats......as for many of the others, I'm not so sure as it was difficult for us all to leave the stand.

In fact I don't think I really managed a proper look around the corner into Hall 3a from where we were in Hall 4. This year was of course a first for the organisers in these halls and it inevitably takes time to get used to the nuances of a different set up...not so difficult for me personally as Our Dogs has had stands in these same halls for Crufts for many years.

The key organisers could be seen busy throughout the day, Julia May, Hall Manager Kit Game assisted by Malcolm Beasley and GCCF Chairman Betty Shingleton and you always know you are at the Supreme when you hear the dulcet tones of the two PA men on the microphones!

It was also a big day for the winners of the Royal Canin / Our Cats competitions and they all gathered around the stage area of the large Royal Canin stand where Christian Romeril seemed to be in overdrive for the day!

Well done to all the winners and we look forward to hosting the same again next year....get those entries in now!

The usual big crowd gathered around the main stage in the afternoon for the judging of the 4 principal awards before we all drifted off into the dark Birmingham night with shouts of see you at the National or Happy Christmas ringing in our ears....Happy Christmas? .....................there's a few more cat shows to do before then!

Winner of Most Original Best Decorated Pen was Miss G. A. Hall’s rendition of Sorrento, near the Bay of Naples, where her Lilac Burmese boy, IMPERIAL GR CH TALIPAW SORRENTOMOON relaxes in his villa.

On the horizon is the volcano Vesuvius, which is still active from time to time. Over Vesuvius hangs the golden moon from which the fine feline is named. Note the urn of Sorrento scrolls at the side of his couch - a fine and careful detail!
