Coventry & Leicester

plans a great day out!

@ Bingley Hall County Showground, Stafford
Saturday 25th February 2006

With an entry of 730 cats, the show is going to be a busy place to be this year writes Lesley Szwed. New titles-IMPERIAL, ULTIMATECAT, MASTERCAT all in competition, not forgetting ROYAL CANIN & CRYSTAL CLEAR QUALIFIERS, and lots of stalls who seem to have everything that you could possibly want, it all promises to be an early highlight in the show calendar for 2006.

There will be a fabulous Photo Session for Best in Show Non-Pedigree, engraved rosettes for Grand Classes and lots of goodies up for grabs.

Our Cats newspaper will be again reporting on the show & presenting Mastercat medals to cats achieving the title. Look out for Chris Stalker who is doing the report and also Vince Hogan and Dave Sharples on the OUR CATS stand.

We have a change of penning company this year to Malcolm’s Penning and we will be interested in exhibitor’s views on this.

With free car parking, refreshments on site, and hopefully all the ingredients for a great day out, we are looking for a bumper crowd at this popular show which this year is celebrating its 44th event.

The show over the years has maintained its entries extremely well and I feel that thanks should go to loyal exhibitors who support the club and the show year after year.

Also thanks should go to long standing show team & committee members; Vice-President Clyde Roberts and Vice -Chairman Grace Roberts both life members and better known on the day as the man on the door and the lady with the microphone.

Joint Show Manager Mark Lewis and Isabel Lewis approaching life membership supporters and organisers of show and entries, for longer than they would want me to remember? (Or anyone else for that matter! Ed)

Assistant Show Managers are Patsy Knight and Celia Godwin. We could not be without Patsy's catering organisation (look for the pudding!) and Celia, who is a wizz at multi -tasking and seems to be everywhere!

Hall Manager Mick Coomer, whom we are lucky to have, organises the hall, trade stands etc every year with what seems to be inordinate ease. Then we have the two Sam’s…Sam Payne who is the website wonder, maintaining and setting up our excellent club website and Samantha Lee our Non-Pedigree section manager and cup organiser, fighting to get things done (like her mother!)

Not forgetting Doreen Walker, one of our delegates, and the quiet voice of reason and sanity on show day.

We are extremely lucky to have such a good team, and be supported on the day by volunteers who are worth their weight in gold and we always welcome anyone who would like to help.

One sector of exhibitors we are looking to encourage, are the junior members as they are our future exhibitors, breeders, judges etc, so we hope to have something exciting in the pipeline!

I look forward to seeing everyone on the day, and will be in vetting in encouraging our wonderful team of vets to get everyone in out of the cold.

So see you on the25th February 2006 at Bingley Hall, The County Showground, Stafford.

Lesley Szwed
Joint Show Manager

Vince Hogan writes: OUR CATS looks forward to attending Coventry and Leicester and congratulates the committee for another terrific entry; we would remind exhibitors that this is the last show where you can get the LOWEST PRICE early bird rates for the
OUR CATS ANNUAL 2007, so do NOT miss this opportunity. See you on the OC stand!

One of the responsibilities of every dog or cat owner is that of coat care. There are many and varied coat types and there is a vast difference between the time it takes to groom a Doberman and an Old English Sheepdog, a Siamese and a Persian cat.

This book provides much needed guidance for groomers, breeders and owners and will be invaluable for those taking the City and Guilds 775 Grooming exam and animal care students of all levels.

Step by step grooming/clipping techniques are described for the more popular breeds of dog and cat and in each case the technique is illustrated with photographic sequences. The book also includes allied subjects such as skin care, commonly found skin parasites and basic first aid and handling.

Easy to understand, in-depth information for all dog and cat owners
